Kelly Cabrera

Graduate Practicum Intern

Ages served: 8+ Specialty: depression, grief, anxiety, school difficulty, bullying Hello! My name is Kelly Cabrera and I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Christian University. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Houston in 2021. I am a graduate practicum student under the supervision of Mrs. Roxanne Deams, LPC-S. I have always had a passion for kids, teens, young adults, and anyone else who could be going through a transition, feeling different from their friends, or just in need of a listening ear. I believe most teenagers at this age are reluctant to talk about any worries they may have. I am pleased to discuss the idea of counseling with you, regardless of whether you are dealing with personal issues, feeling overburdened by life's demands, seeking self-growth, or in need of assistance. I will be utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy. I believe that using these theories will result in a beneficial change. By using a collaborative therapeutic method of working, both approaches aim to promote the well-being of the clients and can lessen their psychological pain and distress. I hope to hear from you soon! I am excited to help you throughout your journey!
